Senior HR Consultant

Bill is a Senior HR Consultant as well as a Senior Career Transition Coach for FGP. In his consulting role he works as an HR Advisor to clients of all sizes in many industries including health care, banking, manufacturing, and retail. Bill has experience in all aspects of HR, including employment law, mergers and acquisitions, executive comp, payroll, benefits, compliance, recruiting, training, and executive development. He specializes in creating HR strategies that accomplish what is really needed, including how to attract, develop, and retain an engaged workforce that meets the needs of an organization. His broad experience helps him quickly grasp the needs of clients and provide useful solutions to the challenges they face.

He was a Chief Human Resources Officer with 38 years of HR experience in several industries, both publicly traded and privately held, mostly retail (supermarkets) and financial services. Originally from New Orleans, Bill’s career took him to Texas, Oklahoma, Tennessee, South Carolina, and even some short stints in Europe and Southeast Asia. Since retiring in 2019 Bill has become an HR advisor and consultant and has stepped in as the head of HR on an interim basis several times. His years of experience have led to be an executive coach and executive outplacement counselor. He has also taught in many capacities, including adjunct business professor at Clemson and Furman Universities, and currently an online instructor for Cornell University.

He’s gained experience in all aspects of HR, including employment law, mergers and acquisitions, executive comp, payroll, benefits, compliance, training, executive development. He specializes in creating a strategic HR department that accomplishes what is really needed – how to attract, develop, and retain an engaged workforce that meets the needs of an organization. His broad experience helps him quickly grasp the needs of my clients and provide useful solutions to the challenges they face.

Interesting Facts:

What do you love to do outside of work? 

We are huge supporters of the performing arts, love to go to NYC to see Broadway shows 1-2 times a year.  Have season tickets to all Greenville and Spartanburg local theatres.

What’s your favorite travel destination, or where would you like to go?

Rome.  But also cruises that go anywhere!  We are huge fans of cruising.

What is your greatest piece of life advice?

“Seek and you will find.  But remember, the finding is only promised to those who are actively seeking”.
