PRODUCTION LEADER/ SHOP FORMAN

Looking for a craftsman. This specialized high precision job shop with major market share is looking for a leader. Someone that is a skilled hands-on Machinist/Tool and Die maker that can lead, help develop and train people in a positive and family centric culture. This is a hands-on role with the people, process, machinery and equipment. The goal of this role is to ensure the shop is clean and organized, the equipment is running properly, the product in produced on time and meets the customers quality standards and it is all done in a safe manner.  This person will lead in a firm but fair way, help develop the current people, hire, train, manage additional employees.

  • 8-4pm M-F

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages day-to-day activities of operations, quality control, maintenance of the plant.
  • Must have strong leadership skills and be able to efficiently navigate a small production floor overseeing a small group of team members and process.
  • Allocates work and provides technical direction, assistance, and training to other personnel.
  • Ensures OSHA and other safety requirements are always met.
  • Keep equipment maintained and running.
  • Manage grinding wheels, tools, and shop flow.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of work cells.
  • Periodic employee evaluations and rare disciplinary action.
  • Retain the positive morale of the plant while representing the vision and standards of the company.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years as a Machinist in a production environment.
  • Strong background in production management.
  • Must be proficient with most all metrology equipment
  • Able to achieve accurate results on lathes, mills, and grinding machine tools.
  • Solid mathematical and problem-solving abilities are required.
  • The ability to read drawings and diagrams required.
  • Experience in the powder metal industry is desired, but not required.
  • Experience grinding and working with tungsten carbide is a huge plus.
